It’s been twenty years since new rescue medicines have become available to epilepsy patients who experience seizure emergencies, like cluster seizures and status epilepticus. After two decades of only having a single FDA-approved emergency seizure medication requiring rectal administration, now the nasally-delivered Nayzilam and Valtoco are arriving in pharmacies and offering patients and caregivers better options for their rescue plans. Find out how these new drugs are expected to improve the lives of those affected by epilepsy.

On this episode Dr. Linda Laux, Medical Director of the epilepsy center at Lurie Children’s Hospital, provides information on two new emergency seizure medications and discusses how they can be utilized in creating a Seizure Action Plan for epilepsy patients, families, and cargivers.
