This week on Seizing Life® we speak with epilepsy advocates and married couple Tiffany and Chris Kairos about the impact that epilepsy has had on their marriage.

Only months after getting married in 2008, Tiffany Kairos experienced a seizure while driving. Though she had experienced one previous seizure at age 16, she had been seizure-free without medication for nearly 6 years. The resulting diagnosis of epilepsy and the sudden, explosive onset of Tiffany’s seizures plunged Tiffany and her new husband Chris into a world of doctor’s appoinments, bills, anxiety, stress, questions, and fears. Tiffany and Chris recount the early days of her diagnosis and share how the struggle to get seizure control deeply impacted their new marriage, professional lives, and living situation. They discuss where they went to find support, community, and answers to their questions, and explain how this led them to become epilepsy advocates, eventually launching their own website called The Epilepsy Network. Tiffany and Chris also share how they manage Tiffany’s epilepsy today, and offer insights and advice for other couples facing epilepsy together.
