Lucretia is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and a Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center who has been working with epilepsy patients for over 30 years. Lucretia explains the training, duties, and responsibilities of an Advanced Practice Provider and discusses the vital role they play filling gaps within epilepsy care caused by factors such as physician time limitations and the decline in medical school applicants. She also discusses the necessity of providing patients and families with knowledge to allow them to make informed treatment choices and better manage their epilepsy, including the crucial issue of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) education. Lucretia also addresses the connection between epilepsy and mental health and the role of providers in assessing and treating mental health issues in people living with epilepsy.
